The European Commission and the Swiss government signed a broad package of agreements to modernise and deepen bilateral ties, aligning Switzerland more closely with the EU’s single market of 460m consumers. The deal updates existing accords on air and land transport, free movement and product standards, while adding new agreements on food safety, electricity, health co-operation and participation in the EU space programme, including Galileo and EGNOS. Switzerland will dynamically apply relevant EU law in covered areas and make a permanent financial contribution to EU cohesion funds.
