While rewatching Don’t Look Up with my wife we've noticed something in the meme montage about Kate after her TV show meltdown that I haven’t seen anyone talk about.

There’s a very quick frame where Kate (Jennifer Lawrence’s character) is edited to look like she’s holding a baby with blood on it, with a speech bubble saying “Delicious!”. It flashes by during the sequence showing how the internet turned her meltdown into memes.

What caught my attention is how oddly specific that image is. In the last few years there have been endless online discussions and conspiracy theories about elites, Epstein, adrenochrome mass consumption, and the idea that powerful people hide disturbing behaviour in plain sight. Whether you believe any of that or not, the image used in that meme in the film feels like it is deliberately referencing the kind of accusations and internet speculation that circulate around those topics.

The interesting part is that I cannot find anyone discussing this particular meme from the movie. I think this frame seems to have gone completely unnoticed.

It could simply be the filmmakers exaggerating how grotesque internet memes can get when someone becomes a public target but come on now!? Drinking baby blood as a meme in a movie? Given the themes of the movie, media manipulation, public distraction, and how narratives are shaped, it made me wonder if the creators were intentionally nodding to the kinds of conspiratorial conversations that exist online today.

Has anyone else noticed this frame or seen discussion about it?

She was also in another film that was weird, called Mother! I believe, that has some very weird scenery

  2. That’s literally an in film satire about conspiracy nuts claiming everyone they don’t like is eating babies. It’s only weird, if you think everyone is eating babies.

Pretty sure they are just calling her a communist because of the old trope “commies eat babies.”
