Senegal has passed a law doubling prison sentences for homosexuality. According to the new text adopted by the National Assembly, “homosexual relations are now punishable by five to ten years in prison , ” reports Sene Web . This vote comes “ in a context marked (…) by a series of arrests across the country ,” the Senegalese website notes. Among the dozens of people arrested since February, some are accused of knowingly transmitting HIV, fueling heated debates against homosexuality.
