Submission statement: the energy crisis caused by the closure of Hormuz traffic is hitting Low and Middle income Asian countries the worse, since many got their gas and oil products from Middle East under long-term contracts, and the spot market alternative would see them competing with Europe and rich East Asian countries for the same supply

one expected but still surprising outcome is the boom in electric cooking appliances , since cooking is probably the easiest form of energy to electrify for those countries, and especially in the case of India, vast majority of electricity comes either from domestic coal or from renewable energy

will this crisis lead to a long-term shift towards electric cooking? remains to be seen

for now , up to 500,000 restaurants across India could soon face gas and LPG rationing if the Hormuz strait doesnt reopen, and those restaurants with electric cooking will survive better
