Supreme Court gets into grammar battle while determining if Trump can rebuff asylum seekers at the border

>Democrat-appointed Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson repeatedly pushed for the Supreme Court to simply vacate or scrap the lower court ruling blocking the metering policy and refrain from ruling on the merits of the challenge. She argued that the Supreme Court isn’t supposed to delve into the merits of hypothetical cases and should hold off on the merits until an actual metering policy is in place.
She basically hates that the other SCOTUS judges are textualists and gets mad that they don’t think like she does 🤦♀️
Courts do in fact scrutinize things down to the exact meaning of fine details. It’s because litigants take their disputes that far.
But also it’s because a competent judge is the opposite of a teenage redditor, they actually *care* about the logical integrity of an argument. A leak can sink a ship, and all the updooting or downdooting on Reddit can’t float it again.
