That needs to be the final goal. Rip away the strait from Iran, establish international controls over it, then pack up US forces and come home.
Any ceasefire with Iran would just be a chance for them to rearm and reorganize, so keep on keeping on is what we should do.
The victors determine the conditions and requirements of a ceasefire.
