FBI labels data breach ‘major incident,’ notifies Congress

    submission statement: given that the US is the primary subject of discussion here, I figure a major data breach in the FBI by ‘China-linked hackers’ is post-worthy.

    ‘According to Politico, the system contained information from pen register and trap and trace devices, which are used to monitor incoming and outgoing calls from a phone, as well as personally identifiable information related to subjects of FBI investigations.’

    Not sure just how significant this is, I’m not an expert in these things.

  2. It’s impossible to know, but I wonder if this wouldn’t have happened if so many FBI employees weren’t fired or driven to quit.

    This applies to pretty much all agencies – I’m wondering when the cracks will really start to appear when you purge so many federal employees.
