But having said that the article is a timely article as the Carney government previously had a lot of grief coming from parliamentary committees. Now that they command a majority in Parliament they can push for a majority within these committees, despite prior tradition that saw committee makeup remain fairly static throughout a parliamentary session. This fairly combative move is being openly contemplated, see Carney’s promise to speed up legislative tempo, this is not strictly speaking necessary. There is only eight weeks left in the spring session, and jumping through these procedure hoops would eat up some time.
