Used to work in television… personally got out in 2016 after I realized it wasn’t going to be a growth industry anytime soon. But I still know a lot of people in the industry.
Station owners are looking to save money, so they’ve been steadily doing mergers, layoffs, and downsizing. To make up for the lack of people, they’re pushing the remaining employees to use AI to increase their efficiency, while also skipping the usual editorial checks.
This will happen again. It’s only a matter of time.
