The SNP have claimed that a re-elected SNP government will put a price cap on a basket of essential foods in large supermarkets, including basics like bread, milk and eggs
Relevant because: Price caps are obviously bad, and this is one of the most economically stupid policies I have seen a governing party ever suggest. Not quite sure what they’re hoping to achieve here, other than lowering the quality of produce available or causing shortages
Obviously I hope that they’re not actually stupid enough to do this. It’s more likely a way to pick a fight with Westminster when they block it. But I would like to know how they’d react if Westminster said sure, go ahead
