Submission Statement: Politically motivated extremism against the family of the one of the most significant living religious figures on the planet because of their political stances is highly relevant to liberalism given the context of the threat

Also: what the actual fuck is wrong with people

    !ping extremism&catholic&chi

Its always the MAGA people who send threats. Reminds me of MTG only received death threats after she crossed Trump. I don’t expect this to endear MAGA to the pope, but Trump will continue to encourage it.

  3. Honestly why the hell did the Hill article include trumps tweet about the MAGA brother when this is a completely different brother. It adds needless confusion. But journalist issues aside, this is very bad.

Important note here: this is not the home of the MAGA brother, Louis, who lives in Florida. This was at the home of John Prevost, who is less political from what I can tell, and lives in the Chicago suburbs

So let me get this straight: The Pope advocates for the cardinal virtues, to recognize the humanity in each person, and ultimately follow the teachings of Jesus, and these people respond with a bomb threat to his brother?

    Incomprehensible.

  6. It’s abhorrent that this is so unsurprising.

It’s also stunning considering the deranged thought process that leads to this, something like:

    > The man chosen to lead the church as Pontifex Maximus has made expressions that don’t align with my political priors. I’m Christian enough to believe that’s relevant, MAGA enough to believe that my opinion should override the Pope, and am not worried about my almighty God being pissed I’m targeting family of one of His highest servants to break one of His central commandments

At least, that’s the best I can make out the logic? Truly breathtaking, the mind of man

  7. While reading about this latest development, I came across this recent shitpost:

*“He wasn’t on any list to be Pope, and was only put there by the Church because he was an American, and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump. If I wasn’t in the White House, Leo wouldn’t be in the Vatican,” the president said on Truth Social.*

Incredible. Constitutionally incapable of not doubling down on his worst instincts.

Christ that’s horrible. I hope this sequence of events makes maga Catholics wake up and realised what their peers think of them

Unfortunately, threats have been growing of this nature for awhile. My parish has armed security now at every mass because of threats.

Its a scary world out there.
