Back during January, there were reports of the the pro-Iranian Shia militias from Iraq to put down the protesters. However, there is now a more clear cut picture of what these militias are up to.
As Iranian forces currently have their hands full with the ongoing war and with growing distrust from their own forces to handle internal matters, Iran is increasingly relying on foreign backed militias to deal with internal threats.
The Fatemiyoun, an Afghan Shia militia is tasked with operations in central Iran and parts of the east, as well as the north, including the capital Tehran.
The Zainebiyoun, a Pakistani militia is assigned security duties in eastern and southeastern Iran, in the province of Baluchistan and along its coast on the Gulf of Oman.
Iraqi militias who are by far the most numerous are most present in Iranian Kurdistan.
The duties assigned to these militias include setting up checkpoints on roads and within neighborhoods in Iranian cities, participating in the protection of vital and military facilities, and carrying out raids, searches, and arrests of Iranians accused of cooperating with the United States, Israel, or the Iranian opposition.
Most of these groups do not appear to be operating in traditional military fashion, but semi-organized within civilian clothing.

IRGC in disarray
Can these groups be bribed?
They have become a blight not just for their respective countrymen but also Iranians now as well. i genuinely don’t get how we can get rid of them through peaceful ways.
They would have to face a campaign similar to the one against ISIS (gonna results in alot of civilian causalities tho. Especially with how embedded they are within the Shiite communities) or crush wilayat-al-fiqh aka regime change the islamic republic (or turn them into a failed state) and render them unable to “export the revolution”
I hate that I literally predicted this. The Ayatollah is a pretty notable figure in Twelver Shia Islam. Trump should have spared him instead of turning him into a martyr. It wasn’t worth the temporal satisfaction since he was on his way out anyways, It also did not rectify the situation for Iranians or grant us space to leverage a diplomatic off-ramp.
Additionally, Kurds in Iraq don’t want the IRGC to fall because it is more than likely that Turkey would fill up that power vacuum.
