It’s kinda crazy that I’m a left-of-centre voter but I’m in the 7% minority here.
I’m more free market than 70% of Tory voters 🙃

So let’s take the US, if you’re lowest paid employee is making $15/hour, the CEO tops out at 312k salary (is this total comp)?
Your top talent and capital is moving if that’s the case. Also it will incentivize contract and gig work even more (task rabbits and service houses for work like janitorial, odd jobs, maybe even IT services).
And note I’m actually a “succ” for this sub and believe in more taxing of capital gains and some form of wealth tax that is atleast a surcharge to your capital gains if your NW is above x amount.

This is a stupid policy but it also will have zero impact on anything so being against it feels like a waste of energy/capital.

100% of CEOs support outsourcing all low-wage jobs to contractors if this policy comes into effect so they don’t have to take a salary cut.

Interesting to see a high public support for strict pay ratio limits, not sure how such a policy would affect investment and firm behavior.

Playing the world’s tiniest violin for CEOs 😔
