  1. If only the president had a way out of such a baited trap that would be immediately obvious to both sides such that neither would try it nor fall for it.

I know, maybe the Vatican should have an ambassador equivalent to the US to help clarify feuds. https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2026-03/pope-leo-gabriele-caccia-apostolic-nuncio-usa.html

Or, you know, the assemblage of bishops in the US could try electing a single leader to speak on their behalf.  https://www.usccb.org/about/paul-s-coakley

But no, it’s all baiting aimed at Trump.

  2. After years of the pope and bishops not saying a word about Biden’s abortion stance and other anti-Catholic actions… going so far as to excommunicate the one bishop who was vocal about it.

After the pope seemingly has nothing bad to say about the Iranians killing tens of thousands of their own, killing the Kurds, supporting terror like Oct 7th, and building nukes with the intent to use them…

No, I don’t particularly care what the recent popes say about Trump or the US.  We’ve done more net good for the world than they have in the last 100 years.
