I’ve said for years that federal student loans should for certain fields and degrees only. We need science, engineering, computer science, math, teachers, social workers. These are the fields that should have opportunity for federal student loans. The rest, call Wells Fargo or something and ask them for money.
That’s the way this system should have worked from the get go. Just review the list every 10 years when census data is obtained and adjust. Then also we should consider PSLF reform for things like teachers where degrees are required but large income is not expected.
