    That is a very crucial word in this assessment. There are two shipping channels in the Strait. It will not take 6 months to clear those.

  4. People are going to hate this, but Freedom of Navigation is clearly no longer an obtainable goal for the US military unless we sacrifice everything else.

    If you can absorb the type of damage Iran can absorb, you get to toll the shipping lanes nearby if you wish. At this point the US has to get out of the way and let the world pay Iran off so their economies don’t collapse and their people don’t starve.

    That’s assuming the US does it. European navies could do it way faster, and have signalled that they want to do it. Instead of mocking European leaders for that, maybe ask them to help with that specific part or something? (Once the war is over of course)
