The article, conveniently, leaves out the labor participation rate. This is basically the denominator that, unless equalized for historical comparison, makes claims of the lowest (or highest) anything irrelevant.
The left attempts to pull this type of shenanigans all the time. The right should not be joining them.

Labor participation rate is down less than 1% from angling since the lockdown slowed the economy. The metrics are all improving.
