    The world they are anticipating will end in violence, and probably a lot of it very quickly, if they don’t figure out some way of trickling down their fabulous wealth to the rest of the world. Sure you can say AI military hardware panopticon but you can’t build enough of that fast enough, and even if you can, you only need a few guys on the inside sensitive enough to the plight of the remainder of the world. They’re high on their own supply and on lesswrong posts they read ten years ago, and they think they’ve built god when they’ve actually just built a very good chatbot.

    The US economy is propped up by consumer spending. I don’t understand how a permanent underclass is viable without crippling economic recession. Congratulations on your company no longer needing 40% of its staff, you’ve also priced out a large swath of your consumer base too because they’re all poor now
