Old man yells at clouds as his house rots from the inside out around him while he gets more and more of his organic parts replaced with plastic.

Putin has attacked NATO and Ukraine in a speech given at this year’s Victory Day parade. The event, which normally marks the anniversary of the USSR’s defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945, was greatly reduced this year when compared to last year, notably with no full military parade (replaced by a video compilation) whilst being cut down to 1/3 of its normal length, and numerous commemoration ceremonies elsewhere outright cancelled. It was inevitable that it wouldn’t be quite as big as last year, but to see it so small is significant.
For one, it highlights the fading strength of Russia’s army, with there being perhaps a more practical concern in dragging a significant number of Russian soldiers from the Ukrainian front, even with the current ceasefire, whilst also underlining just how depleted its strength is. Fears of Ukrainian strength and capacity to strike Moscow are definitely a presence as well. It could also highlight Putin’s growing paranoia, reported by some sources, pushing him to reduce how much investment goes into a civilian event like this. I’m no believer in a coup narrative, but it does imply there is some real fear within of some incident. It also underlines Putin’s fading reputation internationally; there were a few international leaders there like Lukashenko, Sultan Ibrahim and Mirziyoyev, but otherwise, there isn’t much, especially that aren’t already somewhat Russophilic. The only one of real note is Robert Fico, the Slovak PM. Could be a big sign that he intends to tie Bratislava closer to Moscow, especially now that a more Russophilic government is in place in Bulgaria (and, potentially soon, Romania). Either way, though, it is good to see Putin’s power fade like this.

Bro’s getting his ass beat by Ukraine, and hiding in a bunker because he’s scared either a drone or his own people will whack him, but he’s whining about NATO?

were we expecting that he’d praise them?
