  1. Does he specify what austerity measures he’d like to pass? I’d love more desubsidization but something tells me he’s never going that route.

    Or is this call simply on the Indian people? I must say, if a politician ever made a call like this in any of the Angloid nations, they’d probably get crucified. The most they could get away with is “pls don’t panic buy tnx”.

    Still remember what they did to my boy Jimmy Carter for his address.

    I don’t understand the criticism of foreign tours. Foreign trade deals are extremely important to India at this stage, and over the past few months India has been making significant progress on that front.

    Criticism of political rallies and such is valid however, and poor optics on the part of Modi. From a purely logical perspective, its not really much usage in the grand scheme of things, but it doesn’t exactly send a great message.

    Kind of similar to celebrities promoting environmentalism and then flying on private jets, even though there would legitimately be much better for the environment if they continued to fly on private jets but the average person biked more, compared to vice versa.
