Jeon Kwang-hoon, pastor of Sarang Jeil Church, asked the court to suspend a travel ban imposed on him, but the request was denied.
On the 19th, the Administrative Division 1 of the Suwon District Court, presided over by Judge Park Sung-gyu, announced that it had dismissed Jeon’s application for an injunction to suspend the travel ban.
The court stated that the materials submitted by Jeon’s side were insufficient to prove that the travel ban would cause irreparable harm.
Jeon was detained and indicted on February 3 over allegations connected to the January 2025 riot at the Seoul Western District Court. Prosecutors accused him of inciting supporters of former President Yoon Suk Yeol to storm the courthouse, damage property, and assault police officers. He was later released on bail on April 7 due to health problems.
He had originally been placed under a travel ban in August last year during the police investigation.
On April 23, Jeon’s legal team filed both an administrative lawsuit seeking to cancel the travel ban and a request for an injunction suspending its enforcement against the Justice Minister.
During a hearing on the 13th, Jeon’s lawyers argued that his poor health and high public profile made him unlikely to flee, and described the travel ban as a form of “stigmatization.”
Earlier, Jeon had announced plans to visit the United States, saying he wanted to meet Donald Trump and secretly explain what kind of person President Lee Jae-myung is.

3. My opinion
This Jeon guy claims he arranged a meeting with the US president through Paula White, a “spiritual advisor” to Donald Trump, and asked the judge to lift his travel ban as it is an invitation from Trump. The court rejected the request and the authorities considering the cancellation of his bail as it seems he is not ill at all judging from his plan to go to the US.
