Almost as bad as this poor girl’s death is the (likely) complete lack of consequences for everyone involved at the gov’t level.

    >It was a house of horrors — and Suffolk County Child Protective Services placed her there.

This is how the story tends to go, that’s how the story went when I was in a law firm and one of the clients was fighting to get her daughter back.

    >Kelly was deemed “kin” under CPS rules.

When you have a crooked government, your crooked government has a shitload of crooked offices. Their city has a crooked government.

    >Kelly is the father’s fiancée, so CPS placed Jor’Dynn in her home in December 2024.

This means a completely unrelated woman and her own people are now the legal guardians. It was her own mother and daughter in this case it seems, but it could have been a replacement boyfriend or a street gang or a drug den.

    >A month later, CPS was already investigating maltreatment there — yet a judge granted Kelly full custody in April 2025.

Judges have a piece of paper in front of them when they talk, if the clerk’s office lets you down whether it’s an accident or an onpurpose then your most vital evidence might fail to reach them. People will often say *’how could the judge possibly do that’* but they only call what they see, and they only see stuff that makes it down the conveyor belt to reach them.

    >There were other red flags: Kelly’s 1-year-old son reportedly also died in 1997 as a result of abuse.

Sometimes, the whole damn system can be corrupt.
