    Submission statement: given fears over the viability of the social security system, especially among younger Americans who worry the system will not be able to provide them the same security as their parents and grandparents, some data context is useful to inform debates and opinions. It’s comforting to know that even doing nothing, the system will be able to continue to function at roughly the same level for all.

  2. If automatic benefit cuts happen, voters will not compare their benefits to their tax ratio, they’ll compare it to the benefits that American got right before the cut and will punish any politicians who don’t go further into debt to maintain pre-cut benefits.
