Yes, I know Greenland is geographically not European, but there isn’t a better flair

The administration hasn’t forgotten about wanting to get Greenland. Surely this won’t be a problem. Also we don’t know what Rubio is actually thinking. He could be saying this to please trump, but also he could believe in taking Greenland.

  2. Kinda find it hard to believe that Rubio actually cares about this, this is def an appeasement of Trump who is prob still losing his marbles over Bibi crushing any chance of Iran boogaloo ending

You gonna water ski over there on your new Florsheims and tell them that?

I hope “for now” in this case is long enough to take us through 2028 so that we can finally lay this whole dumbass obsession to rest

He sounds like a cartoon supervillain: “You’ve won this time…for now”

This is the same dude who, just 3 months ago at a conference in Munich, declared that the US and Europe belong together

  7. Time will tell if the whole Greenland saga is a nothing burger. While bloodless takeover like Crimea is possible. It seems like politically it would be a suicide cause European union already went all in on Denmarks side. Attacking allies will surely hurt republican chances at being electable…

I feel like Rubio is one of the few people in Trump’s orbit who really understands how destructive his foreign policy is, but doesn’t do anything because he’s a cowardly careerist.

  9. Somehow, this insane bullshit keeps coming back.

    >While testifying before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Wednesday, he was asked by congresswoman Sarah McBride whether he was “aware that Greenland is indeed part of Denmark”.

I have a hot take: don’t ask questions like this. Everyone except Donald Trump and a couple of his most dedicated bootlickers knows this is an insane idea; bringing it up just reactivates Trump.

  10. I’m danish, let’s get something straight. Greenland belongs to it’s people and it’s part of our kingdom due to the tragic era of European colonialism and while the current arrangements works for both Denmark and Greenland, it’s not always sunshine or easy.

Secondly, invaders almost always suffer higher casualties, now double that with Heghseth and Trump in charge. How many dead, wounded or missing American soliders is acceptable? When John Michigan comes home in a casket, what are you gonna tell his friends and family Rubio?

  11. I’ve been watching Forbrydelsen recently, and was surprised at how prominent Afghanistan in in season 2. It’s centered on soldiers who underwent traumatic experiences fighting in a war for their American allies, like one of those American stories about “Heart of Darkness” type shit that happened in Vietnam. And this is how the US pays them back for their sacrifice.

What’s more is that they don’t even bother to do some basic research and understand that Denmark literally does not “own” Greenland for it to be “given” to the US or anyone else. Their constitution enables them to unilaterally begin the process of independence. If the US really cared, it could try to persuade the people of Greenland to secede and apply for US statehood.
