      Becerra’s [housing plan](https://www.xavierbecerra2026.com/priorities/housing/) actually isn’t bad on the whole. Yes, there’s the stuff about subsidizing demand and restricting institutional investors when it comes to purchasing homes, but actually no mention of freezing insurance rates on his website, which makes me hopeful that he was just tossing out a dose of slopulism.

      And there are unambiguously good parts: pledges to streamline permitting, consolidate overlapping agencies, expand SB 79, and take a carrot-and-stick approach to enforcement of statewide housing laws.

      I think we can work with this. Onto the Becerra Era. !ping USA-CA&YIMBY

      Would politics and elections be different if there were no opinion polls?

      I think that opinion polls are overrated and lead to a permanent campaign mode. Politicians permanently have the incentive to do “popular” things to score one point in an opinion poll two years before an election.

      Before elections opinion polls can create the false narrative that the election is already decided.

      Apparently, rightoids are quoting each other’s tweets with this script. I can’t think of any better way to eliminate sympathy for yourself outside the pieces of shit that constitute your ideological camp in advance.
