So I just made a post here about suppression of COVID information, and I have now seen 3 different counts for upvotes on that post. The first I didn't capture, it showed around 430 I think, but I captured within 10 seconds of one another (check the time at the top of my screenshot), two counts varying by 50 upvotes exactly. The image with 150 in it was taken first, and then the second was taken about 5 seconds afterwords when I clicked on my profile. There is now way I go from 430, to 150, to 100 upvotes in less than a minute.
I've seen this shit before, on many posts, I just finally got evidence this time. I will also often see figures like "6 comments" and then click on it and it only shows 4.
If there is some sort of bug, we should figure this out, but I suspect that this isn't a bug, and that the platform itself (likely without the knowledge of most mods, they can't keep secrets very well) has been secretly manipulating up ote counts so certain topic gain more/less traction, as well as even potentially completely hiding certain users comments from one another.

The second image was taken first. It shows 70 comments, 150 upvotes, and 26 shares.
The first image, taken second, shows 62 comments, 100 up votes, and 27 shares.
I’m pretty sure shares is literally the only honest figure here, and am considering the possibility that the ~430 upvotes count I saw was the true count
The numbers have been imaginary for years.
And downvotes.
I’ve actually tested this with a bunch of friends. Reddit just won’t count upvotes and downvotes sometimes. We’re not sure why. We assumed it happens when the reddit AI/algorithms decide you’re too problematic or if it really likes you.
