The public sentiment in this local election was a warning against the government and the Democratic Party, as well as Jang’s refusal to distance himself from the ‘Yoon Again’ line. Candidates who distanced themselves from Jang, including Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, Han Dong-hoon, and Rep. Yu Eui-dong, were elected. Despite this clear message, Jang insists, “We performed well,” refusing to resign. His unrealistic call for ‘re-elections’ is merely a distortion of public sentiment to divert attention from his troubles.

3. My opinion
Jang’s MAGA cargo cult platform gave PPP a nationwide defeat giving 75% of provincial governorships to DPK. Few places where PPP won, Anti-MAGA moderate conservatives won. But, he whines about “election fraud” and refuses to resign from his leadership post despite full-scale revolts from moderated in PPP.
The fact that all of the trio of conservative newspapers ( Chosun, Jongang, and Dong-a) are telling Jang to resign and shut up about “election fraud” conspiracy theory indicates the unpopularity of MAGA agenda in Korea. But Jang is so convinced of this path and causing chaos by demanding the nullification of election result.
