  2. Submission statement: This news shows a breakdown of relations between Poland and Ukraine, which used to be very friendly in 2022 after the start of the Russian invasion. Poland is the most important transit place for weapons coming to Ukraine, but the massacres committed by UPA are a very painful piece of historical memory for Poland,

    Personally, I regret that it has come to this. It would be much better if the situation deescalated by Zelensky changing the name of the unit to something not containing the UPA name. This kind of decision is hard to reverse.

  3. As an ignorant German guy, I just don’t understand why the Ukrainians aren’t changing the name? Would it cause too much of a shitstorm in Ukraine? Or is it, as silly as that sounds, stubbornness on the part of the Ukrainian government?
