In the absence of restrictive density zoning and onerous political consultations, the Squamish Nation managed to build one of the densest neighborhoods in Canada. The housing crisis is primarily a political problem caused by policy choices that our politicians have chosen to make. The title is an exaggeration and Vancouver itself has a mix of good and bad housing policies, it’s a good example of what can be achieved in the absence of Canada’s municipal governments cannot hamstring housing.
