The US does not have the will to take it by force.
It seems it’s politically toxic to have any ground troops ever do anything again. I can’t help but think that china was instrumental in spreading this toxicity through social media.
Maybe the us needs to partner with some developing countries to get ground troops to fight on our behalf of in exchange for some cash or something

We should have blitzkrieged them while we had the chance, like we did with Iraq in the Persian Gulf War in 1990.
The element of SUPRISE has always been the most important in warfare. I say this as a combat vet, who was twice wounded.
All this pussyfooting around has done, is give Iran a chance to prepare. Do it or don’t do it, but if you do, you need to play to win.

There will be no force. The amount of political capital required to deploy boots on the ground for an operation like that is so high that it is doubtful any president will have it. The opposition party will never vote for it, not ever, and the president will never ask for it because it will result in major electoral losses in the next election. Americans primarily care about affordability, the economy. A war doesn’t address either of those issues positively.
Why do you think Trump agreed to such a bad deal? He’s not stupid, he knows it is terrible. But he can’t have this still going on come November. It’s already going to be extremely difficult for the Republicans to hold the Senate, practically impossible in the House. If he tries to take Hormuz by force, he’ll be looking at around a 40 seat deficit in the House, and likely a 6 seat deficit in the Senate.
