  2. Can’t wait for Andy Burnham to come in, have his first meeting with the Treasury, do something that pisses off Labour backbenchers, and then for everything to repeat all over again.

    Britain is rapidly entering the same world as France, where (i) you can’t get elected by proposing solutions to the structural problems that need to be solved, (ii) governments constantly fail when they inevitably have to do unpopular things, and (iii) politics then becomes purely about performance and vibes until the electorate get bored with the current prime minister. It doesn’t matter whether you win a landslide in Parliament or not.

    We are about to have our sixth prime minister in ten years, after the previous six lasted a combined 33 years.

    He was not amazing but it’s frustrating how your average voter has no idea what the fuck they want and think cycling through PMs until the right vibe magically appears will make things better. How long until Burnham is the worst thing ever? I just wish there was more political logic behind our politics.

    Ah well quadruple lock and infinite money for the pensions class it is
