The more I watch what is happening in America, the more I question whether the scales of justice are balanced at all. I know they are not. The recent anti ICE case should concern anyone who believes in civil liberties, regardless of political affiliation. One defendant was convicted of shooting a police officer, even though he supposedly shot at the ground and it ricocheted and it hit the officer,he got a 100 year prison term! Now on January 6 a rioter shot up in the air, his charges were dismissed, clemency by Trump. But what is far more troubling is that several other protesters, none of whom were convicted of firing the weapon, received sentences ranging from decades in prison to what amounts to life behind bars under conspiracy and terrorism related theories. For shit like moving box of literature to be handed out at the protest. They said they were obstructing evidence or some fucking bullshit.
Now compare that with January 6.
Hundreds of people stormed the United States Capitol in an effort to stop the certification of a presidential election. Police officers were assaulted, windows were smashed, lawmakers fled for safety, and the seat of American democracy was breached. Yet many of those convicted later received presidential pardons or other executive relief. and now they’re even talking about giving him money for their troubles. WTAF
Whether you agree with those pardons or not, the contrast is impossible to ignore. Left leaning protesters are handed sentences measured in generations, you heard about the guy who threw a Molotov cocktail at the side of a building. It literally just put some burn marks on the cement. They put him away for decades for that , while many right wing participants in one of the most significant attacks on democratic institutions in modern American history ultimately walked free through political intervention.
That should alarm everyone.
For decades, Americans have been taught to fear words like “communism,” “socialism,” and “Antifa” as though they are existential threats. In my view, those labels have served as political weapons rather than descriptions. They become a convenient way to dismiss demands for stronger labor rights, affordable health care, fair taxation, wealth redistribution, or greater corporate accountability without engaging with the substance of those ideas.
Meanwhile, the concentration of wealth continues to grow. Billionaires accumulate unprecedented economic and political influence while working people struggle with housing costs, medical debt, stagnant wages, and declining economic security. History repeatedly shows that when inequality becomes extreme and peaceful avenues for reform are ignored, societies become unstable. That is not an endorsement of revolution. It is a lesson drawn from history.
A healthy democracy should not fear dissent. It should protect it.
Government should not criminalize political identity, reading material, or association. Justice should be blind to ideology. Whether someone wears a MAGA hat, carries a union banner, or protests immigration policy, the same legal standards should apply. Equal justice under the law is not a partisan value. It is the foundation of a constitutional democracy.
As our justice system punishes people differently because of the politics they represent, then it stops being a system of justice and starts becoming a system of power. Every American, regardless of ideology, should be deeply concerned by that possibility. They are literally criminalizing protesting. We are getting close to totalitarianism! They don’t care if you’re left, leaning antifa or a right wing extremist, soon you will not protest, already you cannot fix your phone, you cannot fix your modern car ir change the oil on many of them without special equipment, you cannot fix your tractor, you cannot fix your washer or your dryer, you cannot print your own devices on a 3-D printer, you cannot grow food that is trademarked which has been pretty much mixed in with all the rest of the food, you cannot take vitamins in place of medicines that are made from oil, you cannot make your fuel at home anymore, since prohibition, and they took out all the backyard, distilleries, and band hemp, it’s a miracle we’re allowed to comment here, but it’s probably only to make a database keep track of who’s saying what this will probably land me in jail in five years or at the very least put me back up to the top of the watchlist meanwhile I’m a upright productive member of society who just gives a fuck about what’s happening to our country let alone the world. The great American experiment isn’t over yet but it sure is going down the wrong fucking road. Guess this is not really a conspiracy theory since we all know this shit is true. What can we do to make things better? Thanks for reading this all the way through.
