Submission Statement: I could probably just submit a picture of me excitedly kicking a hornet’s nest with this one, but there’s merit to discussing this. The emergence of a new democratic socialist left in the United States is a cause of serious consternation for many members of this community. The prevailing belief is that all socialism is and must be inherently illiberal. I do not believe that is the case. This article, while a bit grandiloquent and long-winded, explains that reasonably well and makes an argument for why a liberal society must, in order to maintain its liberalism, infringe to some degree upon property rights at some reasonable point of inequality and place conditions and restrictions upon some so that undue concentrations of power may not restrict all others.
