It is Constitutionally illegal to cast or count a ballot on non election days

I don’t follow the concern with this ruling. My concern is preventing illegal voting. I’d prefer stricter criteria for voting by mail and certainly voter ID. That being said, I don’t see the difference between a vote mailed by Election Day or received by Election Day. What am I missing?
