The US Supreme Court has ruled that states are permitted to ban transgender athletes from sports. The decision was just delivered so we are waiting on more analysis. This is the full decision.
The sub has a special interest in trans rights and thus this opinion is of interest to many users.
I am not an expert or knowledgable on the court cases in this area at all, but so far what I've been reading is that there are more cases down the line that could decide whether states *must* ban transgender athletes. So preparation for those cases might be something that the justices are trying to do in this opinion.
