What if Jean-Luc Mélenchon was to become gamers' favorite candidate? On his X account, the leader of La France Insoumise spoke out on Thursday, July 2, against Sony’s announcement from the previous day that it would end sales of physical game discs.

“With GTA VI coming out on a disc-free format in 2026 and Sony’s announcement that it will stop selling physical game discs in 2028, the question arises as to how we view these products. “In the future, you’ll pay without ever owning anything. No sharing, no resale, and no guarantee that you’ll keep what you paid for,” he wrote.

He then emphasized: “Video games are not mere commodities; they are cultural assets, and current laws must apply to them.”
