      i think this is interesting in light of news of trump’s influence over FIFA/the FIFA president, and it seems he’s applying his influence in ways beyond benefiting the US, but also to hurt his personal enemies. this is not good for europe-US relations, confidence in major international organizations, etc

      An underreported story in the west is the rise of ISIS in Morocco. Just this week Moroccan authorities stopped two ISIS cells planning an imminent attack. 2030 is a long way away, but this is something to keep an eye on moving forward.

      It’s dumb that Trump is using his connection to tip the scales for where the World Cup is being hosted, but it’s not surprising he’s doing it for Morocco. He’s long had a very friendly relationship with Morocco and even recognized their control over much of Western Sahara

      Because of how Trump thinks I imagine this is all because someone once told him the fun fact that Morocco was the first country to recognize the US.

      No shade towards Morocco though, they seem fine unless there’s something I’m forgetting but it’s dishonest to claim we’re in any way shape or form closer or better allies with non nato members, which the exception of maybe Australia/New Zealand

      This really is rerun of trumps greates hits. Create a problem that wasnt there, offer the worst solution to fix it that benefits you or one of your sycophants, anger people you dont like for no reason, make everything worse in the end

      Tbh Im kind of sad the US didnt beat belgium, because I would have prefered We had the honour of blooding trumps nose at least in the pitch
