Submission statement: the EU may include alumina in its next round of sanctions against Russia. It follows investigative reporting in March that exports from Aughinish Alumina in Ireland was ending up with Russian military manufacturers and a ruling in Sweden that Oleg Deripaska maintains control of parent company Rusal. An Irish government report on the matter should be published within days.
Estonia has for a while been a lone voice pushing for alumina to be included in previous sanction rounds.
