**Submission Statement:**
The new Iraqi PM has signalled a rapprochement with Washington and a break with Iran, and is reportedly seeking to wrest Iraq from Iranian influence.
This is quite a major development in this process – whilst there are various Hezbolla subgroups and offshoots (inc in Iraq itself), this is a clear move by the new Iraqi PM targeting an Iranian proxy.
A Western-aligned Iraq would be the final domino to fall in an end to Iran’s Shia crescent project, having already lost Syria and Lebanon.
