In order to combat pollution and support India’s domestic EV and electronics industry, Delhi’s state government has launched a $1.57 billion “cash for clunkers” program specifically made to incentivize Delhi residents to purchase EVs instead of polluting ICE vehicles. This policy extends to cars, motorbikes, and three-wheelers.

Now that Indian automotive companies like Tata are selling EVs that cost less that $10,000 such as the [Tiago EV](https://ev.tatamotors.com/tiago/ev.html) ($5K for BaaS / $7K without) and the [Punch EV](https://ev.tatamotors.com/punch/ev.html) ($7K for BaaS / $9K without) – lower end EVs have now become price competitive against ICE cars in India at the lower end of the economic segment.
