Companies will have no need for money, as there will be no more slave worker to compensate. There will still be a carrot on a stick as tokens will rule as currency of the new age where they can be exchanged for AI made products and services.
Company token budgets will increase or decrease based on the value of products/tasks they exchange them for, and their targets depend on their ability to expand said token budget. Value is decided by the consumer who will also spend their AI tokens willingly towards these companies.
The USD will move away from it's petrodollar hegemony and leverage its datacenter capacity currently being exponentially increased. The new USD will be backed by the nation's total compute and ability to exploit said compute.
This is MAD all over again as nations continue develop their own defense/intelligence AI capabilities, those who have more compute are similar to those with stockpiles of nukes. This creates the current arms race to general intelligence as the ultimate first-mover advantage.
Since everything is digitized, everything will be tracked and stored on a server rack somewhere. Big brother AI will only need to do what AI does best, scour through a person's entire lifetime of digital history in mere seconds and provide a minority report to the state as undesirable or fit.

there is always a need to “money” but it will be in the form of CBDC someday. my bingo card is full of “cyber attacks” on banking to usher it in.

I actually love how people are just now realizing that they watch us “because of ai”. They’ve been watching us for decades. Everything we do, everything we say, who we hang out with, what we eat, what we buy, etc. etc. etc. They know everything. Absolutely everything. Hell there’s even a few people who say that they know what we’re thinking about. The US has always been a “surveillance state”. Why do you think a lot of tech people who actually know about this shit and has seen it first hand, all have their front facing cameras covered? I can tell ya right now, it ain’t because they don’t like taking selfies.
