Berlin police say they have identified a suspect in the van attack at an LGBTQ+ event that killed one person and injured at least 16. The suspect, a Berlin resident already known to authorities, is believed to have connections to Islamic circles in the city. Police are actively searching for him and taking measures to apprehend him. The attack forced officials to cancel the celebrations and a concert shortly after they began.

Unfortunately, neither that the attacker has Islamist ties or was already known to the police are particularly surprising.
