A Seoul court on Monday found Yoon Suk-yeol guilty of lying in regard to his connection to a shaman named “Gunjin” while running in the 2022 presidential election, which he eventually won. The court sentenced him to 18 months in prison, suspended for three years.
As the sentence exceeds the 1 million won penalty threshold for invalidating Yoon’s election as president, the People Power Party to which he belonged will have to return 39.7 billion won in campaign expenses to the National Election Commission if the ruling is upheld by the Supreme Court.

(1) Rule of law: Former President Yoon Suk-Yoel is convicted of lying about his connection to his shamans, which could lead to PPP reimburse 40 billion won to NEC as election is publicly funded in Korea.
3. My opinion
40 billion in repayment would kill any other Korean parties but PPP is a rich party with its known assets estimated to be 120 billion as it inherited the money stolen by Chun Doo-hwan and his “new junta” during their bloodthirsty military dictatorship. This repayment would not affect the operation of PPP.
