The collapse of the South Tower (WTC2) was accompanied by flashes of light, especially at the northeast corner.
What were those?
The 9/11 Task Force interviewed Captain Karin Deshore on November 7, 2001. She recalled in part, “… there was this orange and red flash coming out. Initially it was just one flash. Then this flash just kept popping all the way around the building and that building had started to explode.”
I have conducted a preliminary investigation into the flashes of light, focusing on the South Tower. First, I analyzed the eyewitness testimony, after which I quantified the flashes of light by measuring their speed and correlating them from different viewpoints.
It quickly became apparent that some of them were very fast (0.033 seconds or faster) and were visible from multiple camera angles, ruling out reflections. One of them in particular appeared to be associated with structural damage to column 301. In the analysis, I also compared them to those seen during an acknowledged controlled demolition. I published the findings in the Journal of 9/11 Studies.
The official investigation analyzed none of this.

For your #2 question, neither wtc 1 or 2 matched a gravitational only collapses, if you want to see what that looks like you can go watch a Verinage demolition. Those have constant deceleration after the top impacts the bottom and the top often comes to a complete stop before destroying an equal number of floor below. https://youtu.be/NwFHEoiUZ7o?si=M2GuugDKHnNz4mvr First one here is a perfect example and at about 36 seconds you’ll see the top didn’t completely destroy the bottom. Its also important to note this method only works on buildings that are not steel framed like the towers. Steel framed buildings are too strong for this to work and that these buildings are also prepared to be demolished.
So for me – this is a controlled demolition.
