I can’t believe a primary Senate election in a state I’ve never been to had me sweating like this. Abdul won this election by the skin of his fucking teeth. I thought he’d have a much larger margin of victory.
Apparently AIPAC spent something like $36 million on Haley Stevens campaign, at least that’s the number I keep hearing thrown around and she raised over $60 million overall from corporate PAC’s.
When I was feeling bad this morning at how close the election, I had to remind myself that Abdul was outspent something crazy like 11 to 1 by Stevens.
Do we rly even live in a democracy anymore when 1 candidate has *that much more money* than the other candidate? Like without all that funding, Abdul would’ve blown out Stevens, but instead we get this fucking 11th hour victory in an election that shouldn’t have been close in the 1st place.
I wonder how much more money AIPAC will spend on the general election to keep El-Sayed out of the Senate? He’s already got the dubious distinction of being the candidate that AIPAC has ever spent the most money against, **and he still fucking won**.
