While I agree, it’s right to pursue Fauci and the unfolding evidence of deception he has committed against the US, here’s the thing I don’t understand about Congressional investigations and hearings into people and Congressional contempt charges against people:
What good does dragging people before Congress for a grilling before panels and committees do? It’s always just political theater in the end and the DoJ hardly ever pursues charges against someone. Even when it’s the reverse and the Dems have control. Congress can’t charge anyone with anything, let alone prosecute them. They’re the legislature, not the judiciary. Congress isn’t a court and can’t hold a trial and convict someone.
The Dems or the Republicans drag someone before “Committee <x>” and grill them, they plead the fifth the whole way through, and the panel gets what? Nothing. Some political points maybe. The DoJ declines to prosecute because it has no case and Congress wasted its time entirely on the person. One would think someone would have a lot more fear coming before Congress in such a way if it was in any way really effective against them. Most that I’ve seen just seem to shrug it off, plead the fifth, and walk away back to their lives.
I have zero doubts Fauci is a criminal and needs to face justice. I’m 100% agreed. Why is Congress wasting time trying to drag him before panels and committees? If someone can confirm what true benefits come out of situations like this, please do change my mind.
