A major UK interconnector project had to be redirected after a public outcry that it would go straight through the ‘grave’ of Dobby, a fictional elf from the Harry Potter books, it has been revealed.
>His Greenlink colleague dutifully told the director of the €500m interconnector project about the history of the magical elf. “He is a fictitious character in a fictitious book, the whole thing’s fictitious, what are you talking about?” Ludlam recalled responding at the time.
>His colleague insisted that it was a “very, very serious” matter.
>“So we got back with the planners and discussed exactly how to reroute the cable so we wouldn’t go anymore into Dobby’s grave,” Ludlam said.
