Had several guys in Iraq and Afghanistan try an attempt in order to get out of country/deployment. This is pretty standard, some guys can hack it, some can’t. Never really know until you’re in the shit, but they weed themselves out quickly in my experiences.
I served on the enterprise…we had a few jumpers at various times during deployment. One in port who tied a toolbox to his leg but the rope was long enough to where it hit the bottom while he still had his head above water.
In every case it was a mental health issue more than a conditions on board thing
