In a recent interview with ABC News, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez declared: "Woke 1 was crazy".

As we remember Woke 1 (2014-2024) please share what you consider the most memorable, perhaps positive, perhaps surreal moments of the era.

Here is my short list:

  • (2017) Kendall Jenner achieving world peace by giving a police officer a can of Pepsi – released during an intense period of BLM protests amid high-profile cases of police brutality against Black people LINK
  • (2020) Congressional Democratic leaders kneel while wearing Kente cloth for 8 minutes and 46 seconds in remembrance of George Floyd before introducing the Justice in Policing Act LINK
  • (2020) Profiled by The Guardian, Race2Dinner is an organization, founded by Regina Jackson and Saira Rao, that hosted dinners where white women paid $2,500 each to discuss their own racial bias and complicity in white supremacy LINK
  • (2020) An article by Greta LaFleur, where she reacted to Pete Buttigieg's Time Magazine cover photo with his husband Chasten Buttigieg, where she described how in her view Pete along with his husband presented a heterosexual normative image rather than radical queerness. LINK

  1. “Heterosexuality Without Women” I’m dead. That’s great messaging for the manosphere.

  2. If you like these kind of things, I highly recommend Morning After The Revolution which explains a number of insane occurrences of 2020, including the delightful CHAZ (RIP).
