Sorry if this has been posted before, but I just saw this and thought there has to be some "unofficial" takes on it. From what I read, they were using the Julian calendar, which was slightly too long, and in October of 1582, they switched to the Gregorian calendar. This resulted in the calendar showing a missing eleven days. Like I said, this seems like low hanging fruit for a theory of some sort to be honest, so I was just curious if anyone had differing opinions on why this might have happened.

I’d wager it’s just to keep historical dating accurate to what’s largely agreed upon. I’ve heard conspiracy about it, but it makes sense imo. Plus it’s something we are doing based on gathered knowledge, so inaccurate things happen
